Jim Borden

Solo Guitarist/Vocalist

Let’s say you know you want to create some great ambiance for your dinner party or small corporate event! Perhaps you don’t have a big budget or you have a limited performance space and volume is an issue. You may want some instrumental  “background” music to set the tone, but then energize the festivities with a one-man-band that sings and plays some of the best tunes in pop music. Most entertainers are limited by being able to only do one or the other. When you book Jim Borden, you don’t have to choose between the two. From his formal studies of Classical and Brazilian guitar to his many years performing in several local dance bands and ensembles, he offers a deep repertoire that spans from the Renaissance to ethnic to contemporary popular music. Using a special p.a. system designed to give an even volume across the room that is located behind him instead of in front of your guest’s tables insures a perfect blend that won’t compete with the party, but will amiably enhance it.

Here’s a quick snap shot of Jim Borden’s background as a musician

  • Studied classical music and classical guitar at the University Of Minnesota
  • Studied  Brazilian Guitar with Tony Hauser
  • Played in several Minnesota band’s and ensembles  (perhaps 1000 total engagements) , including  The Fourth Estate, Talisman, 4 Wheel  Drive, Southern Rain, and The Magpies
  • With his bands, he has warmed up several national acts in concert including Peter Tork and The Monkees, Tommy James & The Shondells, Joey Molland of Badfinger, and Leon Russell
  • With The Magpies, did two concerts at The Music Box Theatre and recorded several original songs as well as doing two TV appearances
  • Co-wrote and performed on “If I Only Knew,” which is featured in the film, The Humanity Code
